Unselfish Praying

Jesus encouraged His disciples to pray.  When His disciples asked him how to pray, He answered. In Luke 11:1-10 you see His response.  Prayer works when nothing else will. While serving on the faculty  @ SAGU, I had the privilege of leading prayer teams around campus during a two-year prayer emphasis led by then President of the University, Dr. Delmer Guynes.  As church members came from around the region to pray, unselfishly for our campus, things begin to change.  There was an enrollment increase that lasted for 10 years.  There were hiring and decision-making miracles.  God was moving in our chapel services.  Around the campus, prayer was changing things.

I've seen God work when we decide to pray.  Whether it's a personal burden or problem, or that of your church or family, why not bring it to Jesus.

“And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God.Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.””
(Mark 11:22–25 ESV)

The miracle in this passage is not just that the believers get what they ask for, (certainly in accordance with His will.  Why would you want anything but the will of God?), but it extends as FAR as answers to prayers for forgiveness.  It's called GOOD NEWS for a reason.

Pray now.  Pray tomorrow. Make the decision to let God into your life and find an amazing life purpose.

Consider the high comparison that Jesus makes between the privilege of relationship with Him and trying to succeed on the world's terms:

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”(John 10:10 ESV)

This coming Sunday is Pentecost Sunday!  Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit.  He told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they are endued with power from on high.  Today, I'm putting in links to another blog post and a new set of resources from the Assemblies of God.

The other blog, Holy Spirit Resources contains links, Scriptures and several sermon links to messages on the Holy Spirit.  I believe that the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is for every believer, regardless of your denomination and it is available today.  Will you hunger and thirst for righteousness and find in Him all that you need for meaning and purpose in your life?

Here is link for 2013 emphasis from the Assemblies of God.
